Dead Space 3 - 3D Vision fix.
Updated (same link).
Fixed stars sky box.
Fixed:
- Light;
- Shadows;
- Fog/dust/fire HALOs effects (probably not all of them);
Screenshots gallery.
Remaining issues:
- flares (small light spot) a bit improved , but not fixed. Can render for one eye sometime. You can still off them in the graphic settings menu.
- It's WIP version , I did a "batch edit" of the shaders and that means some effects may be still not fixed.
I don't have much time to play through all game, so if you find any issues and want to help with fixing upload a save game and a screenshoot with found issue.
Instructions:
Download this archive. Unpack downloaded archive in to the folder where game .exe file (deadspace3.exe) located (example : "Origin\Games\Deas Space 3").
Note: If you have crashes when trying to use the fix with other overlay programs like Precision X(Afterburner and etc), try COOP version of the fix(see below) it has better compatibility with third-party overlay software.
COOP version.
Note: You should use it with wariness there is a chance that someday origin anti-cheat system can mark it as cheat. This chance is small, but no one know for sure...
To install version for coop do the following steps:
1. Download and install the original fix (described above);
2. Rename d3d9.dll to d3d9_old.dll(or any other name, doesn't matter);
3. Download this archive and unpack it to the same dir where you put original fix(see above).
4. Run HeliXmodLauncher.exe and after that run the game (note: if you run game with administrative rights, then HeliXmodLauncher.exe should be run with same right as well).
5. Play :)
U - key switches (cycle) depth presets (3 variants).
Note: Default convergence is too high for start menu (use U key).
Holding Mouse 2 key activate low separation preset (for good aiming from the gun)
If you want to save your custom convergence settings press "U" and select required preset, set custom separation/depth settings , then press F7 and your settings will be saved in the config file. You can set custom settings for both presets and for gun preset as well (when holding mouse button 2(aiming gun), set custom separation/depth settings and press F7. Release mouse button 2).

Déjà ?! Bien joué !
ReplyDeleteThanks Helix..,great job!
ReplyDeleteWIP version means you copied most files from DeadSpace 2 fix ?
Nope, It means that i didn't play through whole game and some effect can be broken.
DeleteI did dump of all shaders and edited them.
The fix from DS2 is not compatible it has different shaders crcs.
Thanks again, How can i show my support for you buddy ? Can u do something for the game "Rage" It does not run in 3D at all :(
DeleteNice one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping 3D vision gaming alive.
ReplyDeleteYou are the one. Thank yuou very much for keeping 3d vision alive. Nvidia should pay you very well. My dream is to see Sonic All Star Transformed Helix Ready. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess it's true Transformed has issues. I've only been able to get impressions from one person, but that was somebody who didn't know how to use convergence. Was hoping that was the reason he had depth limited to 20 percent.
DeleteEven turning off shadows and motion blur, and playing with convergence, the game has issues. It's a wonderful game, and I wonder how cool would it be in 3d vision.
DeleteLow seperation for aiming isn't really necessary. Just activate classic aiming in the game options and you get real laserpointers.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Can't wait to try it out! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot HeliX? abig thanks from entire france !!!
ReplyDeleteYou are the man!
ReplyDeleteMany Thanks Helix :)))) u did another great job, everything now works so well, its amazing, thank you, thank you, greetings from Poland! :)))
ReplyDeleteThank you again Helix, and greetings from France ^^
ReplyDeleteThank you very much!! Thanks for keeping 3dvision alive and kicking!!
ReplyDeletebtw, is there anyway to unbid the right mouse key? cause I use it to walk forward... ;)
Open DX9Settings.ini file look for "PresetsKeysList = 0;2;" and change it to "PresetsKeysList = 2;".
DeleteThis should remove right mouse key from presets.
Thanks again!! Keep up the excelent work!! Nvidia should hire you and 3dvision manager department!!! you're the 3dvision King!! ;)
DeleteI wasn't and have not purchased the game yet, but that has all changed now. Helix Fix = Purchase. This is my favorite 3D game series, thanks man!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCan you make a version without your depth/conversion changes, and have just the fixes? I prefer to make my own adjustments and save it.
ReplyDeleteNVIDIA shortcuts works too, just save settings with F7. (You could set them on the NVIDIA Panel: Set up stereoscopic 3D, Set Keyboard Shortcuts, Show advanced in-game settings.)
DeleteCareful:
ReplyDeleteCo-op does not work anymore! Can't add a friend. That's sucks so much. (Help us pleeeeaaase...)
You have to close MSI AfterBurner. It crash the game at launching.
But the 3D is awesome anyway.
For those using EVGAs Precision there is a fix in the OSD Server options 'Enable compatibility with modified Direct3D libraries'.Checking that will stop the game from crashing.
DeleteThanx so much!
ReplyDeleteThanks Helix!!! this game in perfect 3D its a masterpiece.
ReplyDelete///
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for sharing this :)
Saludos ;)

Shoooooot, im getting an immediate crash when i launch the application with these files in the ds3 directory. In DS2 i had to download the evga compatible or crash dll file to make it work. There is no version of this for DS3.
ReplyDeleteTry this.
DeleteWith Precision X or Afterburner need to checkmark a box in the advanced options of Precision X or Afterburner. The Check box text you are looking for is: "Use compatibility mode with 3rd party runtime Dll's". Check box that box, apply settings
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteThis DLL should work with EVGA, but only in "compatibility mode" as Eqzitara said.
DeleteIt even work with origin overlay (After last origin update I guess).
Only one thing I don't recommend to do it use more then one overlay, i.e. some people use evga + fraps + xfire + origin (steam) + (other third party programs). This can cause unexpected behavior.
But better to turn every DX9 hooking software off.
I did the compatibility mode in the advanced settings for precision x and it didn't fix it, unfortunately. I went to the installation known issues page and tried renaming the d3d9.dll file. I think that fixed it! Im assuming that i know helix mod is running when i open the game and dont see the nvidia info in the bottom right and my ctrl+f3 and f4 change the depth perfectly. Other than that how does one know the helix mod is working? Just curious. Thanks Helix and eqzitara!!!
DeleteIts not working if the D3D9.DLL is renamed.
DeleteYou can just exit out of precision btw, Overclocking/fan settings stay on.
DeleteThat's actually a relief because the 3d effect looked horrible. Ill be honest im using a cracked reloaded version of the game, it has to be the culprit. I wanted to see how good the helix 3d was going to be before i bought it. I guess if i want this in perfect 3d ill have to buy it.
DeleteI will recommend you to find what cause this crashes before you buy it.
DeleteMaybe you problem not in precision x.
Close all third party programs and try to run the game, maybe you will find cause of this conflict.
Yeah ive got everything closed. I even tried a diff crack from skidrow. Any one who has it currently working want to dl the reloaded crack and see if it works with the helix mod? Im using the 14 mb reloaded crack. Thanks!
DeleteDoes anyone play 3D Surround? I tried the Fix using 3d surround but it crashes to desktop. HAs anyone else had such an experience. (It happens to Singularity also)
ReplyDeleteI don't use surround and only thing I can suggest is turn off original overlay and other third party overlays if you have some. Also you can try a trick from Mass Effect 3 : http://helixmod.blogspot.ru/2012/08/mass-effect-3-crash-work-around.html
DeleteOkay please disregard it's just not working for me without surround either. Issue is most likely something on my PC.
Deletehttp://helixmod.wikispot.org/How_To_Install
DeleteIf its not a conflict that is mentioned, reinstall dx9.
i play 3d vision surround, But i havnt tried this game yet tbh.
DeleteJust an FYI issue was my EVGA Precision X... was able to finally find the setting to enable.
DeleteYeah, finally and really fast. Very good job!
ReplyDeleteNow i'm waiting fr a 3d vision fix for hellgate global :D
Thanks a lot, man! I was waiting to play it til you fixed it, but that was faster than I thought!
ReplyDeleteYou are the savior of 3D gaming!!
Thanks a lot, i really appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteHelix you are the man!!!! Thank you so much for your hardwork!!!! trully appreciated!!!! Greetings from Brazil.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Would you consider your 3D Vision fix for Dead Space 3 as good was it was for Dead Space 2? Your DS2 fix was like 3D Vision Ready, really amazing work!!!!
Besides turning off flares in DS3 game menu, should I turn off any other feature, or can I leave all settings maxed out? Are you playing DS3 with flares on, is it a minor issue, I would be ok leaving it on, if the remaining issue is not really that big deal?
BTW, impressive work you did with Farcry 2, I've only played this game because of your skills. Thank you very much!!!!
Greetings from Brazil...
I meant Farcry 3 not 2, lol....
ReplyDeleteThanks, Helix, for fast release. Much love
ReplyDeleteI didn't have any issues with Farcry 3 using your 3D Vision fix and I always use Afterburner to monitor my GPU and Fraps to monitor my fps. I also have Origin and Steam installed and always logged on.
ReplyDeleteWhy I have to worry about that when playing Dead Space 3 using Helix fix? If I do what Eqzitara said about compability mode using 3rd party dll, should I be Ok? I wasn't aware these programs could affect your fixes, go figure???
your awesome !
ReplyDeleteYour files are working absolutly great even if this is a wip - Thank you very much for keeping 3dVision alive!
ReplyDeleteIs there any chance u can do a 3d fix for mafia 2 ? or assasins creed 3 ? Thanks
ReplyDeleteThat was quick! thx helix!
ReplyDeleteAnd i wish to add that 3d vision is completly useless without you, and i don't understand why you have to do the job of nvidia..
ReplyDeleteThx for all the game that u have fix
Are you guys on facebook? Helix or Eqzitara?
ReplyDeleteCan someone help me ? when i play a game in 3d vision with SLI, the right borders of the game disapears... it's difficult to explain, it do that in this game, if soemone with 3d vision ans sli could try and tell me i'm not alone ?
ReplyDeleteyou will understand the problem without explenation if you see it.
Thx a lot
Use the 3dvision crosshair with 100% transparency!! It fix's that! Hope it helps :)
DeleteWow , It work thanx, How did you find this fix ?
DeleteA friend of mine found it on the internet! There's a better fix yet... try it, at the nvidia control panel, change the pre rendered frames to 1 instead of auto. That way, the crosshair thing is no longer needed! Hope it helps again. This game is amazing in 3d... enjoying thanks to The masters Helix and Eqzitara! ;)
DeleteHappy gaming
Weird it say pre rendered frame does not aply to SLI, i will test it anyway. Thanx you
DeleteIt worked for me.
DeleteWith the nvidia crosshair, with vsync on or adaptative I was getting a performance hit... frames dropped to 50's.
I always leave my pre rendered frames at 1 because this issue happens a lot.
Deletea big big thanks .
ReplyDeleteThanks for your hard work! But it crashes when evga precision x is open although the fix is easy enough (just turn it off) but I thought you might wanna know.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome thank you.
ReplyDeleteI am using your mod and the only change I have made is to turn flares off. I haven't really seen any bugs with it and it works great.
This to me is one of the best 3d experiences along with tomb raider and trine. It really does make it quite frightening and the creature appear a lot scarier than they are in 2D.
Got to love people who think 3d is a gimmick. They clearly have never played a well supported 3D game like this.
No one use the co-op?
ReplyDeleteWhen I use the fix, I can't play co-op.
If I delete the files it works again!
Some one could help?
As I know you can't use any modified DLL(like SweetFX or this mod) in coop, maybe this is a new EA anti-cheat system. Maybe your friend should have the same dll installed.
DeleteIt is better to ask from devs/EA support.
In mass effect 3 you had to use origins friends list. I dont have DS3 yet though so I have no idea if that works.
DeleteSame to me @ dugom. only play in coop, but without 3d, but my reason is a different: i can't use the 3d glasses AND a headset. it simply wont fit XD
DeletePS: great 3d hotfix but while aiming, my eyes cried :(
My friends have the Helix files too, doesn't work in coop.
DeleteI'll play the coop in 2D then again in solo in 3D.
Thanks for the answers guys.
You can save/modify the 3D in Aim mod separately, just use F7 to save it (see the top of this page).
DeleteTomorrow I'll try to make version of the DLL with injection maybe this will work in coop, but can say for sure.
DeleteLoved that!
DeleteThanks.
Here is the thread on EA/Origin:
http://answers.ea.com/t5/Dead-Space-3/No-Coop-with-HelixMod-NVIDIA-3DVision-HELP/m-p/484764#U484764
Ok, I did a new DLL.
DeleteNow i need someone who can test a new version of dll (with injection) in coop(does it work or not).
To install a new version of the DLL(injection) do the following steps:
1. Download and install the original fix from the main post (above);
2. Rename d3d9.dll to d3d9_old.dll(or any other name, doesn't matter);
3. Download this archive https://s3.amazonaws.com/-HeliX-/DS3.Inject.zip and unpack it to the same dir where you put original fix.
4. run HeliXmodLauncher.exe and after that run the game (note: if you run game with administrative rights, then HeliXmodLauncher.exe should be run with same right as well).
I can't give any guarantees that this will help with coop problem with the fix, but at least i tried :)
Works great now, you can play in 3D on coop game.
DeleteThank so much for your job, so easy to use, amazing.
I love you.
Can someone pleae post the best settings for 3D for nvidia contol panel options ??? Im using 3x3D moniters if that makes any difference, Thanks
ReplyDeletehttp://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=70
DeleteIs the best place to ask.
Helix, when you look outside through a window or in the space (final of chapter 4 for example), stars (little points) looks at wrong depth. This is the only issue (really minor) i found.
ReplyDeleteGreat fix and game!!!
Helix thanks for the fix....one comment the skybox (stars) is render in wrong depth in some scenes from the beginning of the game... I hope you can fix in a future.
ReplyDeletethank you very much for all your work again.
is there any way to play helix mod + sweetfx for DS3?
ReplyDeleteSkybox at wrong depth, othewise brilliant mod as usual Helix.
ReplyDeleteWithout your work 3DVision would have withered on the vine during the past 12 months.
You should consider providing mods as a subscription service such as Cheathappens.
This could help fund a DX11 wrapper for 3DVision, which I am confident you could make work with help and funding!
Best
Baragon
Awesome job!! as Alyways!!!!
ReplyDeleteReally really awesome!!! Just wanted to say I really appreciate your work!!!!
Best Regards,
Helifax

Thanks for testing !
DeleteI've updated the main post.
I think this is 3D engine issue.
Don't think that it can be fixed via shaders, but I'll take a look in future.
It's a commun bug, it doesn't bother me, I'm used to it.(like in Walking Dead.)
DeleteMaybe CTRL+F11 can help a bit anyway.
I just report it, in case you could look at it.
Its talked about above.
Delete"A friend of mine found it on the internet! There's a better fix yet... try it, at the nvidia control panel, change the pre rendered frames to 1 instead of auto."
Your fix convinced me to buy the game :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome, keep up that brilliant work !
Dead Space 3 Coop in Stereo 3D FTW *thumbs*
ReplyDelete@Dugom
ReplyDeleteFor textures and lighting artifacts at right edge of screen:
Turn on Nvidia 3D crosshair Ctl-F12 (but set transparency to 100% in Nvidia Control Panel 3D section).
Then Use CTL-F11 to cycle frusta and problem is largely resolved.
Turning on transparent 3D crosshair also solves this problem in some other games..
Baragon
Actually you can fix the right edge texture/lighting issues by changing pre-renderded frames to 1 in the nVidia control panel. No need to turn on the nVidia 3D crosshair nor cycling frustum.
ReplyDeleteHow can i change mouse 2 key to xbox controller left trigger?
ReplyDeleteJoy2key/xpadder
DeleteExcuse my dumb question, but i don't know where in the ini file need to place "Joy2key/xpadder"

Can you make fix for Aliens: Colonial Marines please?
ReplyDeleteHelix and Eqzitara gods, how much euro to fix The amazing Spiderman? :D ;)
ReplyDeleteAliens colonial Marines didn't deserve the fix!! It sucks so bad!! :O Sound is the only thing cool about it!! :P
I don't have the game.
DeleteMaybe in future when I will get it.
Where can I private msg you? ;)
DeleteCant stop you but Spiderman has everything wrong. Broken lights, shadows, and every model's texture doesnt know where model is. Its probably worse off then dead space.
DeleteSorry, but I don't accept any gift and donations for the work which is not done yet.
DeleteIt can be that game is not fixable and what we will do then ?
Only I can suggest for now is wait, maybe sooner or later I will get my hands on this game.
Donations is a great idea too! ;) Why not? Keeping you motivated is what the 3dvision fanboys want! ;)
DeleteAnd a gift is a gift, wasn't asking nothing in return! You've done so much already!!!! :) It's good to know that working for love still exists! ;) But my offer still stands, and on steam there's a sale now for it... ;)
Keep up the good work. :D

ReplyDeleteAwesome job, salutations from Belgium!
ReplyDeleteThe whole world owes you, Helix (and EQ and others) for keeping 3D gaming alive.
I never play a 2d game, and I always buy games only if there is a fix.
@ Chris Gallacher
Mafia 2 is perfect in 3D, I played it without any issues.
But I'm also curious like you, for Assassins Creed 3 and the new Hitman etc.
I was wondering if there is any possibility to have a page on this website which lists the level of 3D support/quality (at least for the big releases).
For example, if I want to know how the 3D support is for Assassin's Creed 3, or Hitman, it would be so nice to have a page here, saying if it's already good, or fixable, or not (for example listed as "3D ready, no fix needed", or "Several isssues, fix pending", or "Not fixable, DX11 only" etc.
I think that would be an awesome feature, if it's not too time-consuming.
Congratulations again on your tremendous work, my gaming life would be sad without you :-)
List 3D: (TriDef/IZ3D/3DVision)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mtbs3d.com/gg3d/
But no HelixMod there...
Helix game list:
http://helixmod.wikispot.org/gamelist
*shrug*
DeleteThey took down there tridef/iz3d/nvidia forums regardless. I think that list is gonna disappear very soon.

ReplyDeleteIs there any way to save my 3D settings for each individual game i play ? The cntrl f7 only saves the 3D setting as it is, But as soon as i start another game i have to adjust it all over again :(

ReplyDeleteIn helixmod games you can press a key[That is being used like depth hud/whatever] then save settings and it should save to the key.
Deletenice thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeletethx for this, game looks amazing in 3d
ReplyDeleteRan into a lighting issue towards the end of the game. Very noticeable because of the ground shaking.

Thank you a lot Helix. After using your shader since over half a year I decided to connect here and tell you my sincere greatfullness. Since your fixes, 3D Vision is really usefull and I cannot, honestly, play e.g. shooters in regular 2D anymore. Please keep up your excellent work. Best regards from Luxembourg, Europe.
ReplyDeletePS: Computergames are not progressing, but 3dVision and your fixes made, are making computergames for a lot people interesting again.

Greetings Helix. Here Mario from Spain (sorry if my english is bad)
ReplyDeleteI have a serius question for you.
Last night, playing Dead Space 3 with your mod enabled, well... my VGA card died. Don't panic! My RMA service is going to replace it, but since I think I have (had) a great VGA (ASUS GTX670 DirectCU II top), and I was playing very loose (never less than 60 fps with all maxed, and no more that 68º in GPU), I'm intriged.
I'm not blaming you for what happened, but (asking from ignorance), do you think it's remotely possible that a software that modify a game could damage a vga hardware, or alter its Bios somehow?
I think this is a stupid question, I know, but understand that now I'm worried when my new VGA arrives (the same model), and I'll afraid to play dead space with 3d vision and your mod again. (Btw, I loved it!)
What do you think? Just a coincidence? Some words of tranquility for me?
Thanks, and keep doing these awesome mods.
Hi Mario,
DeleteMy mod doesn't do anything with video card on hardware level.
It does what game devs can (or should) do, correcting shaders code for stereo 3D.
This this can't be cause of video card death.
Btw, My 680 from ASUS also died few month ago and I even didn't play any games at that moment.
Also I know the guy why changed two 680 from asus and he never played 3D.
So maybe this is just bad luck.
At least their 3 years warranty service works and they change dead cards without problems.
Ok Thx 4 reply Helix :-)

DeleteHey guys. Just want to thank you for the work you did to get Dead Space 3 in 3D. This game is freaking amazing in 3D. You guys rock the block!
